We left Vesuvius and climbed up our last major climb to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The weather was perfect - in the sixties and blue skies - and the views from the ridge line were spectacular. The parkway is a great road and a scenic way to get above the mountains and trees to appreciate the splendid beauty of the Appalachians. We cruised for 25 miles before dropping down and heading northeast on a strait line home.
Corey Crawford, a 20 year resident of Bay Ridge, and his wife Casey had their first daughter, Rogan Tomey Crawford in January, 2007. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia, a form of blood cancer that is most commonly seen in infants. It's been over a year since she began treatment and she has improved immensely in that time. In an effort to raise awareness of the benefit fund set up in Rogan's name and to show support from the neighborhood that the Crawford's impacted so much, Danny, Jerry and Joe Ricciotti have elected to ride bicycles cross country for Rogan's cause.
